"911, what’s your emergency?"

"There’s something horribly wrong with my husband."

"Calm down ma’am and tell me the problem."

"I don’t know - something happened in the closet. I just don’t understand it. He’s never done anything like this before. Never. Not Once. I think he must have had a stroke. Maybe his vision is blurred and his brain is numb and he just doesn’t know it yet."

"Ma’am, you’ve lost me."

"I told you. He went into the closet and came out DIFFERENT. Not blue, not beige, not plaid. He came out green and striped! On his own. This isn’t normal. He’s a DBA. It’s always been blue, beige, or plaid. It’s the uniform."

"Ma’am, no one has ever died from wearing a green striped shirt."

"EXACTLY! I’ve told him the same thing lots of times. He’s never listened. Now he’s reaching all the way to the back of the closet and pulling out shirts that haven’t seen the light of day since I bought them. And he’s doing it with that stupid grin on his face. It’s a stroke I tell you. I know it. Please send someone quick."

MKHK machine knit hand knitting sock with traditional french round gusset heel

How best to reward someone for venturing beyond his comfort zone, even if it was done to get my goat? A new pair of khaki green cashmere socks. He has only worn worsted wool in the past. Beige, blue, and one pair of dark burgundy. I think his feet deserve to experience something new.

What’s unique about this ordinary looking hand knit ribbed sock is that it was completely done on a flat bed knitting machine with a ribber. The heel flap and heel turn are made with slip stitches, rather than the hold position, exactly as one would if knitting by hand.

I call them Machine Knit Hand Knit socks, or MKHK for short.

This is a beautiful sock. I would love the pattern for this if you have it. I did notice mention of a DBA. I am also a DBA. Do you know what database platform?

Oracle and a few others, the names escape me. I do know he loves what he does.

I’m especially grateful because without his database skills, I could never have this site. He’s gone from knowing nothing about what powers Wordpress a few months ago to being the webmaster force behind all my posts, pages, plugins, site updates, and anything else html or css I needed to keep the site functional.

I am a DB2 UDB DBA on the AIX platform. I love my work also. I really enjoy browsing around your site. It is very nicely organized and easy to read. Do let me know when you have the sock patterns. I like a good challenge. I am learning as I go.

This is by far the best looking machine knit sock I have ever seen.

I would love to have the pattern for your MKHK sock.
